Muharram in Pakistan

Pakistani Shiite Muslims beat themselves during a procession to mark the sacred month of Muharram, the first month of the Islamic Calendar, in Peshawar, Pakistan, 06 August 2022. Shiite Muslims are observing the holy month of Muharam, the climax of which is the Ashura festival commemorating the martyrdom of Imam Hussein, a grandson of the Prophet Mohammed, in the Iraqi city of Karbala in the seventh century.
