Oder river contaminated on German-Polish Border

Dead fish float on the bank of Oder river near Kustrien-Kietz on Oder in Germany on August 13, 2022. The Oder river, which partly runs on the Polish - German border, is believed to have been contaminated with toxic, chemical or biological pollutants. The scale of pollution is very large, tons of dead fish were pulled out of the water by volunteers. The contamination is believed to have started in Olawa in southern Poland. People are urged not to enter or use the river’s waters. The Polish Prime Minister, Mateusz Morawiecki pledges a thorough investigation and severe consequences for the polluters.
