Ukraine marks the 37th anniversary of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident, which was the largest nuclear disaster in history. The accident claimed the lives of hundreds of people and caused irreparable harm to the ecology of Europe. Since then, on this date in Ukraine, every year they honor all the people who died or suffered from this disaster, and also honor the liquidators of the consequences of the accident. During the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Chernobyl nuclear power plant was occupied by Russian troops and was liberated on 31 March 2022.
