Helga Stevens Candidate For President Of European Parliament

Helga Stevens is a Belgian member of the ECR group, a successful politician, great person and candidate for President of the European Parliament. She is running because she believes the European Parliament President should unite, not divide, the whole house and all of Europe's representatives. ***VOICE*** I am running because I believe the European Parliament needs real change that enables it to reconnect with the many voters across Europe who feel their voice is not being represented in the parliament at the moment. For the past few years the President of the Parliament has been chosen in a backroom deal, but this time it looks like it will actually be chosen by an election of all MEPs. I am running because I believe that all 751 MEPs should have a say about how Europe is run, not just a few political group leaders who meet behind the scenes and pre-cook all major decisions away from public scrutiny. I came into politics to effect positive change, and I think the biggest contribution that I could make is to return the Parliament to its Members who have been shut out of most major decisions, and as a result, we can reconnect the parliamentary debates to the millions of diverse people who have felt that they have no voice in decisions that affect their lives. For me, EVERY VOICE MATTERS and we need to ensure everyone is heard here in the European Parliament.
