The Alipore Jail Museum, located in the heart of Kolkata, is currently showcasing the restored buildings of Alipore Jail, complete with 116-year-old records, thanks to the efforts of the West Bengal Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation (WBHIDCO). Architect Partha Ranjan Das is overseeing the ongoing conservation efforts. The museum, which is now open to the public, highlights the historical significance of the jail, where prominent national figures such as Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Rishi Aurobindo, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, and Bidhan Chandra Roy were once held. The museum is sharing poignant stories of Indian freedom fighters. The Chief Minister of Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, officially opened this national historical landmark on September 21. Since September 23, the museum has been open to the public. The Alipore Jail Museum features gallows, a watch tower, special cells, general cells, a library, a seminar hall, a light and sound show, and exhibitions, all of which are part of the visitor experience.
