Poland Records Negative Savings Rate for First Time

Only two countries in the EU recorded a negative savings rate last year. Both Poland and Greece households spent more than their disposable income in 2022. For Poland this was the first time the savings rate fell below zero in Eurostat's records. Poland's negative savings rate of -0.8 percent last year means families have had to rely on previous savings to cover the cost of living. Despite the falling savings rate Poland's disposable income rose by just under 1 percent while in the same period the EU average fell by nearly 1 percent. SHOTLIST: 1. City skyline 2.
