The ongoing trials of the Italian public warning system, IT-Alert, are set to continue, focusing on scenarios involving specific risks in limited and defined areas. The initial test phase for 2024 is scheduled from January 22 to 26. During this period, message transmission tests will be conducted in selected areas across twelve regions: Abruzzo, Basilicata, Calabria, Campania, Emilia-Romagna, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Piedmont, Sardinia, Sicily, Tuscany, Aosta Valley, and the Autonomous Province of Bolzano. There will be three risk scenarios tested: The collapse of a major dam in Campania, Sicily, Aosta Valley, and the Autonomous Province of Bolzano. A significant incident at industrial facilities subject to the Seveso Directive in Abruzzo, Basilicata, Calabria, Campania, Emilia-Romagna, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Sardinia, and Tuscany. A nuclear incident in Piedmont.
