ChatGPT: Italian Privacy Guarantee, OpenAI Notified of the Formal Complaint for Privacy Regulation Violations

The Authority for the Protection of Personal Data has notified OpenAI, the company managing the ChatGPT artificial intelligence platform, of the formal complaint for violating personal data protection regulations. Following the provisional data processing limitation measure adopted by the Authority against the company on March 30, and the outcome of the investigation conducted, the Authority has found, according to the note, that the acquired elements may constitute one or more unlawful acts in relation to what is established by the EU Regulation. OpenAI will have 30 days to present its defensive statements regarding the alleged violations contested. In concluding the procedure, the Authority will consider the ongoing work within the special task force, established by the Board that brings together the EU Data Protection Authorities (EDPB).
