Police officers are guarding a crowd of people in central Warsaw, Poland, on February 10, 2024. The crowd, holding the Polish national flag and anti-government banners, is being led by far-right media outlets Gazeta Polska and TV Republica, as well as leaders from the Law and Justice (Prawo i Sprawiedliwość - PIS) political party. They are staging a protest in support of the current Constitutional Court Judges in front of the Court's building on Szucha Street. The Law and Justice party, which ruled Poland for eight years, lost the last election in October 2023 and is now a right-wing opposition force against a more centrist and liberal ruling coalition. The main political force in this coalition is the Civic Coalition, led by Donald Tusk, former President of the Council of EU and current Prime Minister of Poland. The current Constitutional Court judges were sworn in by the PiS party. Both sides are accusing each other of unconstitutional acts surrounding the Constitutional Court.
