Moon Has Reduced By Over 45 Meters

(FILE VIDEO) The Moon is undergoing a reduction in size, with its circumference decreasing by over 45 meters due to the gradual cooling of its core over the past few hundred million years. A study led by the Smithsonian Institute published on The Planetary Science Journal revealed that the lunar surface has developed folds and faults where different parts of the crust meet, similar to grapes becoming raisins. This process, however, leads to earthquakes and landslides, posing a threat to future human missions. The continuous shrinking has caused significant surface deformations, including in the South Pole region where NASA's Artemis III mission is set to land.
