People are looking at a stream that is currently overflowing due to heavy rains on the outskirts of Peshawar, Pakistan, on Monday, April 15, 2024. The death toll from incidents related to the torrential rains affecting several provinces in Pakistan has risen to 38 today, according to official sources. The country's authorities are reporting 9 deaths and 8 injuries in the last 24 hours, most of them resulting from lightning strikes or home collapses. The majority of the deaths have occurred in the northeastern province of Punjab, where four deaths have been reported and five others have been injured by lightning strikes in the last 24 hours, according to the latest bulletin issued by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority. Since the rainfall began last Friday, the provincial authority has recorded at least 21 deaths due to lightning strikes.
