Rongali Bihu celebration begins in Assam with 'Goru Bihu'

People are bathing cows in Nagaon district, in the northeastern state of Assam, India, on April 13, 2024, to celebrate the first day of Rongali Bihu, also known as Goru Bihu or Cow Bihu. Across Assam, people are observing the first day of Rongali Bihu with traditional fervor. On this day, the cattle are being washed and smeared with a paste of fresh turmeric and black lentil, and people are also worshipping the cattle.
