Workers are currently stretching out the largest carpet near the Hazratbal shrine in order to let it dry in the sun. This comes after Srinagar's recognition as one of the most creative cities in the world, and Kashmir's artisans are working hard to uphold this prestigious title. In the village of Wayil, located in the Kralpora region of North Kashmir, a team of Kashmiri artisans is unveiling what is being hailed as Asia's largest handcrafted carpet. This hand-knotted Kashmiri carpet, measuring an impressive 72 feet by 40 feet and covering a vast area of 2,880 square feet, is a masterpiece. More than 25 artisans have been working on this extraordinary piece for over eight years. The entire carpet industry in the Kashmir valley is taking immense pride in this achievement. The intricate weaving of this exceptional carpet was supervised by two seasoned veterans of the craft, Fayaz Ahmed Shah and Abdul Gaffar Sheikh. Their unwavering dedication ensured the completion of this monumental work despite numerous challenges.
