Pakistani children who are suffering from the blood disorder thalassemia are receiving blood transfusions at the Hamza Foundation Medical Center in Peshawar, Pakistan, on the eve of World Thalassemia Day, May 7, 2024. Thalassemia is an inherited blood disorder that affects the body's ability to produce hemoglobin and healthy red blood cells. World Thalassemia Day is being marked annually on May 8.
