Residents are evacuated due to a forest fire in Riau, Indonesia

Residents evacuated when peatland fire rages near their village in Kampar, Riau Province, Indonesia on September 22, 2019. Pekanbaru and Riau Province region in thick fog throughout the week due to fire, with air quality reaching unhealthy levels. Toxic haze from Indonesian forest fires closed schools and airports across the Riau Province and in neighbouring Malaysia. As of this year, more than 328,000 hectares (about 800,000 acres) of land have been burned, according to Indonesia's National Board for Disaster Management.
