Volhynia massacre anniversary


The victims of the Volhynia massacre were commemorated in Warsaw on July 11, 2024. The main ceremony took place at the Monument to the Victims of Genocide committed by Ukrainian nationalists against citizens of Poland. Former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and former Minister of Defense Antoni Macierewicz took part in the National Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Genocide committed by Ukrainian nationalists on citizens of the Second Republic of Poland. The anniversary of the so-called Bloody Sunday - on July 11, 1943, 99 towns were attacked and there was a mass extermination of the Polish civilian population by the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists, the Ukrainian Insurgent Army and the Ukrainian civilian population. It was the culmination of the criminal actions of Ukrainian nationalists - on one day, over 8,000 people were killed - children, women and men.
