Traditional Tobacco Process In Sumedang West Java Indonesia - 10/04/2024

A farmer is cutting rolled-up tobacco leaves in Sumedang, Indonesia. During the dry season, residents of Tembakau Village are working to process tobacco leaves. Trays of sun-dried tobacco are filling the village streets, rooftops, and terraces. It takes around 20 days for the tobacco to dry properly if the weather is sunny. Tobacco from this village is being sent to various regions in West Java and exported to European markets such as Singapore, Malaysia, Germany, and Sweden. Currently, there are 70 million active smokers in Indonesia, most of whom are young people, according to the Indonesian Health Survey.
