Sambranikodi Island is situated at the southern tip of the Ashtamudi Lake in the Ashtamudi backwaters, approximately 10 kilometers away from the main city of Kollam. It is believed that during ancient times, small ships from China are anchoring along this coast. Local people are referring to these ships as 'chambrani,' and later the place is coming to be known as Sambranikodi. Currently, Sambranikodi is becoming one of the most popular tourist attractions in the Kollam district. It is offering a breathtaking view of waterways fringed by lush mangroves.
