Three wild golden jackals (Canis aureus) are resting (sleeping) in a dense forest and occasionally get up and curiously try to sniff with their noses, this top-angle shot was taken at Tehatta, West Bengal, India on 26/10/2024. The golden jackal - the largest of the jackals - resembles a small wolf, but with a comparatively more slender build, shorter legs, and a shorter tail. Lack of food and shelter, and the pressure of urbanization have reduced jackals' habitat. An omnivore is an organism that eats a variety of other organisms, including plants, animals, and fungi.
