Canis aureus in India - Golden Jackal

The golden jackal (Canis aureus) is a wolf-like canid that is native to Eurasia. The golden jackal - the largest of the jackals - resembles a small wolf, but with a comparatively more slender build, shorter legs, and a shorter tail. Lack of food and shelter, and the pressure of urbanization have reduced jackals' habitat. An omnivore is an organism that eats a variety of other organisms, including plants, animals, and fungi. Golden jackals come from the jungle and rest beside a house, where forest trees have been cut down (deforestation) and plastic packets are scattered around. Suddenly a jackal warns another resting jackal through gritted teeth at Tehatta, West Bengal, India on 27/10/2024.
