Banded Phintella - Phintella Vittata - Animal India

Banded Phintella (Phintella Vittata) or Electric Blue Jumper, a small colorful jumping spider, are agile hunters who are active during the day and use their keen vision to hunt other arthropods. They leap from surface to surface to hunt their prey. Males use ultraviolet light (UVB) to attract females during courtship. They have specialized surfaces on their bodies that reflect UVB radiation. At night, banded phintella hide in nests made of closely woven material under leaves, stones, or bark. Banded phintella are non-aggressive and do not typically exhibit biting behavior towards humans. This spider has a mild venom that it delivers through its fangs, they bite only in self-defense and when provoked. A Banded Phintella (Phintella Vittata) is walking on the water of a bucket in a special way for some mysterious reason in Tehatta, West Bengal, India, on 17/11/2024.
