Bagchi Zamindar House - A story of the abolition of Indian Feudalism


The interiors and old architecture structures of the second ancestral House of the Bagchi family at Jamsherpur of Nadia district. This is popularly known as Natun Bagchi Bari or the new residence of the Bagchi family. Renowned Indian poet Jatindramohan Bagchi (27 November 1878 — 1 February 1948) belonged to this family. Jantindra Mohan Bagchi was a poet known for helping Indian freedom fighters during British rule in India. The Bagchis were vassals of the Natore Raj family of zamindars (a feudal landlord in British India) and Rani Bhabani's granddaughter married into the family. Here, The birth anniversary of poet Jatindramohan Bagchi was celebrated. This year the poet's 147th birthday was celebrated at Jamsherpur's Notun Bagchibari, the poet's birthplace. Special guests like language researcher Dr. Kumaresh Dey, and poet Biren Dube were present at the event. In this old, vintage, dilapidated house, elders are reciting poems to children and sharing their experiences. Learning poems is a great way for children to develop language skills and enhance their memory. This heavenly New Bagchi House heritage building is now a dilapidated, dirty, smelly, dusty, almost ruined building known as a haunted house, swallowed by the ravages of time at Jamsherpur, West Bengal; India on 27/11/2024.
