Inauguration of the largest seawater desalination plant in Oran, Algeria on February 20, 2025, with a capacity of 300,000 m³/day each, will supply 15 million citizens with drinking water. This ambitious project provides for the construction of five desalination plants in the wilayas of El Tarf (Koudiet Draouch), Béjaïa (Tighremt-Toudja), Boumerdès (Cap Djinet), Tipaza (Fouka) and Oran (Cap Blanc) for an investment of around $2.4 billion. These infrastructures will increase the national production of drinking water from desalination from 2.2 million M3/day to 3.7 million M3/day.
