The Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S) reported that the daily global sea ice extent, combining measurements from both polar regions, set a new all-time low in early February, maintaining this record low throughout the month. In the Arctic, sea ice extent for February was 8% below the average, marking a record low for the third consecutive month. Meanwhile, Antarctic sea ice recorded its fourth-lowest extent for February, at 26% below the average. The daily extent in the Antarctic may have hit its annual minimum towards the month's end, potentially the second-lowest ever recorded.
