About 1 square kilometer of blue rock is seen in the Gobi Desert in Hami, Xinjiang province, China on March 16, 2025. There are two possible genesis of the rock: one is the secondary oxidized minerals of copper ore (such as azurite, silica malachite), and the other is the high-pressure metamorphic minerals (such as cyanite, cyanophane).
