Vigil in Warsaw for victims of Sumy attack

Several dozen people gathered for a vigil in Warsaw, Poland on 13 April, 2025. Mostly Ukrainian citizens and several Polish participants took part in a vigil in the city centre in memory of the victims of the Russian on attack on the Ukrainian city of Sumy this Palm Sunday. More than 30 people have been reported killed by the attack amongst which several children. QUOTES (Anastasia, Ukrainian citizen) 1. "People were heading straight to the church and this attack happened maybe 500 meters from the church. So Russia once again strikes the civilian city, civilian area, hits the public transport and many people are killed. And I would like to remind you that just today and I would like to remind you that just 10 days ago, Russia strike the children's playground and killed nine children." 2. "I was numb because of the shock and I was in despair, I was desperate. And I was very sad that I had to once again, gather my people not because we are celebrating something, not because we are cheering something, but because people were killed. And it was, you know, another reminder that there is a whole country that wants me to be dead. There is a whole country that wants Ukrainian children to be dead. It was just a real reminder that nowhere, it doesn't matter where I go, I will receive this reminder every day that Russia wants me to be dead and Russia wants all of those people who gathered here dead." 3. "FUkraine must be given the right to strike back and Ukraine must receive more weapons. Like the weapons we received, we are really grateful for that. It helps us save lives, it helps us save our soldiers, our civilians, but it's not enough."
