Varna Municipality Volunteers Help Elderly People Because of COVID-19

30 volunteers care for the normal life of the elderly every day in times of social exclusion. Young people go to the homes of elderly people living alone or experiencing difficulties with daily activities. The youths help them by buying food and medicine, taking out the trash, etc. Volunteers are organized by the Municipality of Varna. People decide which days they can spend helping others according to their schedule and other responsibilities. This volunteer unit is designed to assist mostly firefighters in the city, but all volunteers have received first aid training as well as responding to other emergencies. Now, in the times of coronavirus pandemic, the unit has been reorganized to assist the most vulnerable members of society, Varna, Bulgaria on March 31, 2020
