Students and healthcare professionals protest for the future of the National Health Service

Students and health professionals took to the streets in L'Aquila, Italy, on May 29, 2020 wearing the white coat and a mask marked with a red X and the number 29 as symbols of the protest. The protest took place in twenty other squares in the capitals of the Italian regions. Every year thousands of young graduates fail to continue their training in the field specialist or general medicine, remaining in the limbo of precariousness. "We are here today to demonstrate against what have been the progressive cuts in public health. Since 2010, 37 billion euros have been deprived of the national health system, or rather the National Health Service" These are the words of Dr. Susanna Faenza who continues "We are here today to demonstrate against the funnel formed, against the impossibility that we recent graduates have of being able to form. Not even a pandemic served to demonstrate how serious the shortage is, not of doctors, but of specialist doctors. There are twenty Italians squares, including ours, that are demonstrating against this system that does not support us"
