Transalpina square used to be divided with a wall, one part of it in Gorizia (Italy) and the other in Nova Gorica (Slovenia), but with the entrance of Slovenia into the EU the wall had been removed. From 11th March 2020, due to coronavirus pandemic, the Slovenian authorities closed most of its borders with Italy; in the square a fence was delimiting the border until today, 13th June 2020, when it was removed, Gorizia, Italy.
