Local farmers protest against the half a dozen projects planned in the area by the government at Khudolphant, Lallitpur, Nepal on July 18, 2020. Local residents of the area say that the project planned by the government which includes a Kathmandu-Tarai expressway, a smart city, 132KW high voltage transmission line, Bagmati Corridor establishment, Outer Ringroad, a railway line will uproot their ancient settlement and cultural heritage. They have expressed their dissatisfaction as the government has neither provided them with sufficient compensation for their lands nor have sought their participation while designing these projects. The protestors carried out a rally shouting anti-government slogans and reached out to Khudolphant for paddy transplantation. Khudolphant is an area proposed by the government as the gateway for the Kathmandu-Tarai expressway. A similar type of protest took place in the area earlier on July 4 which ended up in a clash between the locals and Police personnel where at least four police and more than a dozen of protestors were injured.
