The Divine Liturgy of sunday was officiated by Orthodox Metropolitan Archbishop Bartholomew Samaras in Aya Fotini (Agia Fotini) Church in Izmir, in Turkey on August 9, 2020. Aya Fotini(Agia Fotini); the modern structured Eastern Orthodox Church is located and rebuilt in Alsancak, in Izmir, in Turkey after it's original building was collapsed in the great fire of 1922. The original one was the important Metropolitan church for Greek people. Now the church regularly gives worship service is called "The Divine Liturgy" every sunday for Orthodox people who have different nations such as Greek, Russian, Turkish, Georgian and Romanian."The Divine Liturgy" contains two parts: the Liturgy of the Catechumens, sometimes called the Liturgy of the Word, at which the Scriptures are proclaimed and expounded; and the Liturgy of the Faithful, sometimes called the Liturgy of the Eucharist, in which the gifts of bread and wine are offered and consecrated; the faithful then partake of them in the Sacrament of Holy Communion.The Prothesis (or Proskomedia), the service of preparing the holy gifts, can be considered a third part which precedes the Liturgy proper.
