Steve McCurry's Afghan Girl photograph was sold for a record 62 thousand Euros by auction house DESA Unicum in Warsaw making it the most expensive photograph ever sold in Poland. The photograph of Afghan refugee Sharbat Gula, taken during the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan became an iconic image after being on the cover of the June 1985 issue of National Geographic.
