Volunteers of Maiti Nepal light candles to mark the eve of World AIDS day, in Kathmandu, on Monday, November 30, 2020. Maiti Nepal is an organization established in 1993 to combat against domestic violence, trafficking for flesh trade, child prostitution, child labor and various forms of abuse, exploitation and torture. A candlelight vigil was organised on Monday to mark the eve of the World AIDS Day in Kathmandu. The theme for this year's World AIDS Day observance is "Ending the HIV/AIDS Epidemic: Resilience and Impact" The candle lighting ceremony was organised by Maiti Nepal at Gaushala where volunteers drew a red ribbon symbolizing the solidarity of people living with HIV/AIDS. A one minute silence was observed during the event in remembrance of the people who have lost their lives from the epidemic. Maiti Nepal conducts the vigil every year to commemorate the day and to raise awareness on preventing HIV/AIDS and to advocate a dignified life for those living with HIV/AIDS.
