Poland extends lockdown until end of January

Poland has announced it plans to extend it's current quarantine period to at least the end of January. Hotels, restaurants, ski slopes, gyms. theaters have been closed since the end of December to prevent further spread of the coronavirus. The ban also includes the closing of shopping malls and large shops. Poland has been struggling to contain the epidemic since the start of the school year in September last year. Due to the overwhelming of health services temporary hospitals have been built and a sanitary regime had been introduced. As hospitality businesses struggle to survive amid the closures some plans to open up starting next week in defiance of current regulations. On Monday the first three grades of elementary school will also start for the first time since closing several months ago.
