Thousands of asylum seekers have been living on the roadside in makeshift tents after the fire, before being transferred to the new refugee camp in Kara Tepe – Mavrovouni also known nowadays as Moria 2.0 - a former military shooting range area of the Hellenic Army, near Mytilene city in Lesbos island Greece. The new temporary camp Kara Tepe was created after the fire of September 9, 2020, when one of the largest in Europe refugee camps, Moria hotspot ( reception, identification and registration center ) was burned.
