French government lined up in support of nuclear industry

SOT 3 - Bruno Le Maire, Minister for the Economy, Finance and Relaunch, answers the question on how the French government intends to tackle the unsolved problem of nuclear waste storage in France and Europe. Gonesse, Val d'Oise, in April 15, 2021: "We are tackling this issue by coming up with new answers, by working on new technologies. I am thinking in particular of the use of more recycled fuel. It was said by the president of Orano, the need to use more recycled fuel in the new generation nuclear reactors. We are working on storage facilities that are the most efficient possible. We are ready, of course, to discuss this with all our European partners. France chose nuclear power more than half a century ago. It is a choice that sets it apart in Europe. We are not the only ones. It is a singular choice, but things must be very clear with our European partners. We believe, along with the President of the Republic, that nuclear power is one of the essential forms of energy to fight global warming and to make a success of the ecological transition. So we will continue to fight for nuclear power to be recognised as a green energy in the European taxonomy."
