Poland's health system pushed to the brink by third wave of COVID-19 infections

Deaths have reached new highs in Poland during the the third wave of coronavirus infections. Ambulances are often forced to queue for hours at overfull hospitals. Daily infections are the highest since the start of the epidemic and now has the third highest figures in the EU. The biggest problem the country is facing however is its lack of staff. Poland has the lowest number of practising physicians per capita in the EU after years of emigration and years of government underfunding.
