Passenger boats are waiting for villagers on a flooded street at Khanakul of Hooghly districts of West Bengal 79 Kilometre away from Kolkata on August 4th, 2021. West Bengal villages face massive flood while third wave of COVID graph increases. West Bengal villages especially southern part of the state facing massive flood situation since few days. Heavy rainfall and releasing of water from the dams by Damodar Valley Corporation are main caused of this flood said local residents. Due to lack of water holding capacity DVC has to release water from the inadequate dams each year and flooded many adjoining districts and villages and takes lives.
